Rod Edwards
Chairman

Rod’s RN service covered a range of roles, ashore and afloat, including time in the MOD HQ in Whitehall. After leaving the Royal Navy he embarked on a 20-year commercial career with a number of technology-led global companies, including time as the Chief Executive of KnowledgePool and Parseq Limited. Rod lives in Old Portsmouth with Lyndsay and has 2 children who have long flown the nest.

Vice Chairman

Mark worked at IBM in Hursley for 33 years in software development as a Project and Development Manager. He spent extended periods of time working in the US, Europe and Australia and authored four books about Business Processes. Retired from IBM he is a Magistrate in Portsmouth and a curator in the IBM museum. Married to Sheila, Mark’s interests include skiing, guitars, and travelling.

Glenn has worked in senior finance roles in manufacturing and engineering sectors for companies including Raytheon and Emerson, SMEs and UK listed companies. He runs his own accountancy business advising local companies. Glenn is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He lives in Portsmouth with his wife and two children. His hobbies include archery and photography.

Roger Harrison

Roger has worked for many charities; as Chairman of The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, Havant and as Vice Chairman of Relate SE Hampshire, Eastleigh. He was an HR executive with IBM for over 30 years. More recently he has taught Business and English language skills in Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Russia. Roger has a season ticket at Pompey, likes theatre, films, and all kinds of music – especially playing rock and roll piano.

Stephen Downham

Stephen is a Chartered Surveyor advising the AHA on property matters. including the acquisition of the site for Sirius Court, the extension for Cornwell Court and acquisition of Eliza Mackenzie Court. In the local property market he deals with disputes relating to property and the valuation of large development sites. Hobbies include umpiring league hockey. Married with one daughter living in Australia. 

Tony Lyddon

Tony served in the Royal Navy for 35 years, retiring as a Commodore in 1999 aged 53. After working for 2 years in a computer company, he served as the Administrator (Director of Operations) at Guildford Cathedral for 10 years before retiring in 2011. Tony now devotes much of his time as a volunteer Caseworker for SSAFA.

Alex Burn

Alex recently joined the Board after 8 years as Head of Older People’s Well-Being team, Hampshire County Council.

Nigel Langhorn

After a career in the Royal Navy, Nigel ran his own leadership development consultancy before joining the NHS. He led on the Wilts PCT transformation programme in 2012-13 and a role in learning and development. He followed this with two years as a key account manager for three customers and is now back in the consultancy world as a change management expert. His interests include walking, watching cricket and rugby and sailing and diving.

Liz Fairhurst

Liz is a former WRNS officer and has been a member of the board for just over 2 years. She is a member of Hampshire County Council where she has responsibility for Adult Social Care and Public Health. Liz also chairs the Hampshire Health and Wellbeing Board. Happily married with three children and one grandson.

Kim squareKim Mehta

Kim currently serves in the RN and has worked on training requirements for Type 45 and Queen Elizabeth Class ships. She moved into the education domain to lead the RN’s education and e-learning centres across the UK and Gibraltar. She currently works with a consortium of University, Council and regional employers to establish a University Technical College in Portsmouth to shape the education provision for young engineers. She has two children and plays netball, scrabble, and saxophone when possible.

Carl Dixon

Carl served in the Royal Marine Commandos for 12 years. He covered a wide range of roles in the arctic circle to the jungles of South America. Since leaving The Royal Marines, Carl has worked within the Housing, Care and Support sector. Carl is the Branch Treasurer of the RMA (Taunton) and an RM Network Support Officer. He lives in Somerset with his wife Clare, three teenage daughters, and two dogs.

Paul Watkins

After a career in the Royal Marines Paul has had a wide and varied career in providing Sheltered housing.
